Good Design Award Winner — CheatsheetPro

Everything you need to teach and learn VCD.

A CheatsheetPro membership brings together high-quality, interactive resources that make teaching Visual Communication Design easier. Classroom-tested and created by subject-area experts, it helps teachers explain key concepts, engage students and prepare them for assessment.

Explore videos, whiteboard presentations, worked examples, games, ExamAI questions and downloadable resources—all in one place. Course guides and assessment support reduce preparation time, while student-friendly explanations help learners revisit concepts and practise independently.

In 2026, more than 200 teachers and 1,500 students across Victoria are using CheatsheetPro—a growing community bringing visual, interactive learning into their classrooms.

Based on cognitive science

Short, focused segments combine visual, interactive and audio supports to strengthen comprehension, recall and retention.

Safe for schools

Students use a classroom PIN and initials. No student names or email addresses are required, supporting privacy in school settings.

Quality tested

Developed and reviewed by experienced Visual Communication Design teachers, with checks against the VCAA curriculum.

For diverse learners

Scaffolded tasks, multiple entry points and varied ways to learn help students build confidence and independence.

VESR vehicle comparison website demonstrating similarity and proximity

Worked example

Describe how two Gestalt principles have been used to communicate to the end user within this interactive experience design. (6 Marks)

The VESR vehicle comparison website uses the Gestalt principles of similarity and proximity to clearly group related information and support intuitive navigation across the interface.
Each vehicle card is consistently styled, with repeated layouts and fonts, helping users recognise them as part of the same comparison set (similarity). Within each card, grouped stats such as fuel consumption and cost are placed closely together, showing their relationship (proximity).
Similarity makes it easier to compare vehicles, while proximity ensures the user reads related data together, such as cost and efficiency, without confusion or misreading.
These principles help users quickly scan, interpret, and compare vehicles without cognitive overload, supporting the platform’s goal of informed, efficient decision-making.

Clearly state two valid Gestalt principles and briefly describe what they do — e.g., similarity, proximity, figure/ground, closure, continuity.

Mention what the viewer can see — are elements grouped together? Repeated? Are buttons aligned? Describe the layout using proper terms.

Ask: Why would the designer use this? What does it help the user do faster or better? Link the visual feature to the design’s goal — e.g., faster comparison or reduced confusion.
